Different types with powerful moves.

Do what I didn't. Make sure your pokemon's stats are as high as you can get them....... Particularly, their defences. Also, when you get to the first challenger, beware his Gardevoir's attacks. They are lethal.

Well, you should train at mt.battle. It's easy to make your Pokemon more stronger. My Pokemon teams are:
Blaze/flareon lvl.63
Flamethrower
Ember
Bite
Quick attack

Sapphire/salamence lvl. 53
Dragon claw
Dragon dance
Dragon rage
Tackle(the tackle is really powerful if she use it)

Duncan/houndoom lvl.48
Faint attack
Bite
Ember
Roar(I know it sucks

Twilight/mightyena lvl.49
Bite
Shadow ball(heh,shadow BALL. Get it?)
Dig
Poison fang

Mt.battle is a perfect place to train your pokemons.
My Pokemon team became an excellent team because of that. Hope I helped!=D
