Yes you just have to weaken it alot and try to paralyse it or make it fall asleep.

I caught him in just 3 ultra balls with its HP at exactly 1 and burned status. Worked for me, u can try it too

I just lowered all of Shadow Lugia's Stats, put him to sleep, and brought his HP down to 1 with false Swipe, and then i caught him with 2 Poke Balls

Yes, but it is very tough. I cought him with *coughalotcough* of ultra balls (like, 36 XD) so you may not want to try that method. Best way is with Master Ball, keep in mind that you only fight XD001 ONCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So don't miss him.

Actually if you just return to the island you can rebattle him.

You weaken it, put it to sleep, weaken it to minimum without killing it, the chuck Timer Balls or Ultra Balls for best chance. Any ball is capable, though...

i've used 8 great balls, 10 ultra balls and he's asleep and it stil wont catch, any other ideas?

bro i caught it with a premier ball, it took a lot of time (3 hours) but it's definitely possible if I did it with a premier ball. I think they make his catch rate lower than usual

Yes you can.Here are some pokeball percentages to catch Shadow Lugia without a masterball:
Pokeball: 5-10% catch rate
Great ball:10-15%catch rate
Ultra ball:20-24%catch rate
Timer ball:5-100% catch rate (You start out with five percent and go increasing by one or two percent each turn)
