Question for Paper Mario 2

Hi everyone, I am stuck in the cave after being shipwrecked.

I found the locked door, and I can see the winch handle...

However, I cannot reach it. My yoshi acts like he hits a wall when I try to use him.

Do I need to find the key, to be able to use the sailboat mode? Can you help me find the key?

If you reach the door that is in the room next to the room with the winch , you go up.
Then you go through the door at the left.
Then you go left.
Then you must use koops 'hold' ability to activate the switch in the storage room.
Don't withdraw koops yet!
Then step on the elevator platform, then release koops.
If you do this right, then you can see an key on the right. Use koops to get the key and return to the room with the locked door.
Then you go through the next room, evade some thingy's, bust some asses,
and then you see a ship that you can enter. In that ship is a black chest.
Talk to the chest, defeat the ghost, get the key, and open the chest.
You will learn to use sailboat mode.
Then go back to the chamber with the bulky bob omb, the one before the storage room. You will see a boat panel.
Transform into a boat and go down the waterfall.
Sail through the gap in the bridge, and go through the left gap.
If you did this things exactly as I said, you can reach the winch handle.

Go into the room next to that door. Then go up the stairs inside.
