Is there anything you can do with star pieces or are they just there to keep you busy???

When you first go into the sewers, go in the door to the left there's a guy named dazzle, in a funny hat, talk to him and he will trade them in for badges.

Those star pieces are used to by badges.

If you go to Merlon's place, then you will see a guy standing outside his place.

Talk to him, and you can buy badges for star pieces.
