You can only get a 'stylish' move when you have perfect timing with the action command.

E.g: If Mario uses jump, there would be a button on the left side of the screen which says 'A'.

Press it at the exact same time as it goes down.

pokemaniackid answered:

When you use Goombella's Tattle attack and align the cursers exactly, you will sometimes do a stylish move.

papermario_2 answered:

I think you have to go somewhere and pay this guy and you can do stylish.

mariofreak answered:

All bogus, you press it right before or right after you make contact with the enemy for Goombella, as soon as you aling the cursur, then press A again quickly.

In Rogueport's central area, there is a merchant who will sell you various things. One of them is a badge called Timing Tutor.

When you equip it, a ! will show up in battle whenever you can do a stylish move. To do it, press A. Some have more than 1. Piercing Blow and a few other badge moves have 4!!

If you press A when you land on an enemy after Mario jumps after the 1st stylish move, you will see a 2nd hidden !.

This is also true for spring jump. When you successfully perform a stylish command, you will get more star power.

mysteryperson answered:

Uh, I can't tell you the exact timing, but if you equip the Timing Tutor Badge, an ! will appear over your head when it is the time. If you hit A then, you'll pull it off.
