Make sure it is on the menu that says nascar dirt to daytona: press start

When you first load up the game will be a menu that has the words "Press Start"... At that menu only can you enter the cheat code in, you may hear a sound when entered correctly. Now try and see if it unlocked the cheat code, that should do it.
