How do I get into the next floor of the lake cave if there is no

I went into the lake cave and there are no stairs, and I used my hoe and looked for them! Help me please!

Look around the room you're in. Do you see the little cracks in the floor? If you walk over them or stand on them, they will break, a ! Will appear over your head and you will fall down one or several floors. If however a ? Appears over your head, you will be transported back up a few levels. This method however beats having to dig for your stairs, and the risk of running out of stamina along the way.
