I heard that if you connect your link cable and do all that stuff you can explore the town and get new items but when I try to do it I follow the directions perfectly and all that happens is it tells me that my link is however many stars strong and then it puts me over by celia's house... Any ideas how o do this properly?

You can not explore Mineral Town by linking the GC & GBA it is impossible Sorry. :(
