How do you get to chapter 2 I've already went past a full year and can you get a free seed maker?

Yes to get a free seed maker you have to befriend Daryll the weird scientist.
Chapter 1 is 1 year chapter 2 is 2 years and chapter 3 is 3 years and so on it goes farther and yes you can get a free seed maker talk to Daryl and become friends with him he likes fish and gold coins you get at the dig site (Note:he will not accept anything when he is in his house.) and you will eventually get a free one...hope I helped a little..
