Ok. First off that is not very stupid. Second no you don't have to wait, it is a luck thing. When you see the egg, you pick it up, look at it, and if it is fertilized, it is, if it isn't then it isn't. (p.s. Look at it his way... Can you fertilize an egg after it is out of the chicken.... No)

I agree with runscaper389: That isn't a stupid question. In my first file I spent 3600G on 3 roosters until I realized I only needed one to fertalize my eggs. But enough rambling: To have the egg hatch, it is essential (Essential; don't you love that word?) to place the fertalized egg in the the little box in the top-right corner of the coop. It will take about five days for it to hatch, when the sprites tell you if it's a girl or boy.

I want to let runescape389 in on a little do have to wait. Even in real life chicns are external ferilizers. Meaning the eggs is only fetilized ofter the rooster sits on it. I promise you. Thats why it's impossible to find a chicken in an egg unless you have natural eggs. So all in all if you wait and NOT pick up an egg till later in the day. So in conclusion ... Do wait to pick up the chicken and egg till l8 in the evening. And it should be fertilized.

To start I would like to point out that dc chais is totally wrong. Chickens, like all birds, mate internally (the sperm has to reach the egg before the outer shell forms and blocks it out). Also I agree that this question isn't stupid. After an egg is laid (in game) just pick it up and look at it, it's either a "fertalized egg" or just a regular "egg"
note:Golden eggs cannot be fertalized

no but there is a way to get it fertilized it all just depends on how much you love on your chicken
if you never love om it it wont fertilize
if you love it but dont put it out on the nice days then it will be fertilized
but if you love it ever day and put it out side on the nice days the you will get a golden egg

*p.s. to love pick it up and press y
