After you are done with all the machines and protected the statues you will then follow the wayyou came from so try to remember it. Or you could try to just follow the green arrow, I'm not so sure about that though but you could still try. When you find Appa use the "Action" button then it will say "Go back to the Village." Just click on it and you're on your way.
