Bogus Report:
When I got this game,I had my doubts.
It is not normally the type of game I would play, but when I got this for my birthday,I put it in and started to play.
After watching the intro movie,I can say I was impressed with the graphics, but I needed to put the gameplay to a test.
After fiddling with the options I decided to try freesurf first, and was thoroughly impressed at how the game played, the waves were excellent to do tricks on,and to ride inside the tube, however,I had no idea how to do combos and stuff.
I next started a career, and found that their was a TUTORIAL LEVEL!!Something which can help a lot.
After playing through that,I knew how to do stuff back to front.I have completed the game completely now,and here is the scores:
Graphics:9/10
What can I say,the graphics are smooth and realistic, however, they're let down when it comes to backgrounds.
Gameplay:8/10
The camera is always at the perfect view, however, the Gamecube's control stick can make some tricks hard to do. e.g,trying to do a move by pressing Up+A,but accidentally press diagonnally top-left and X.Seeing as some of the levels in career mode rely on you doing certain tricks, this can get very annoying.
Story:10/10
Career mode is the game's best part i'd say.6 competitions, over 15 beaches,2 or 3 levels on every beach, and some objectives are every tricky to do.It will last a long time for everybody.
Size of waves:10/10
The waves are HUGE if you are on the right beach, and the tubes join together occasionnally, making it hard to maintain balance.Just one wave could be hard to get to the top of if your surfer does not have enough speed.
Replay Value:7/10
Although this game takes ages to complete, when you have completed it there's nothing to do really. There are a few secret surfers to use(including Tony Hawks on a surfing game!!)
Overall:9/10
Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer beats Tony Hawk's on every aspect, however the replay value and controls put the game down slightly. It's a great game even for people who are not interested in surfing.
So there you have it,the game which is Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer.A great game, with some big high's and a few low's.
Even if you are not interested in surfing, this game will be great for you.So if you're looking for a game whihc will last a long time,go out and buy it,or rent it first to see if you like it.
But either way, this game is worth looking into.It is truly a great game, and I hope to see a sequel sometime in the future
