Ah, yes! The first gym. For some, the hardest, and for others, the easiest. The layout is simple, battle a trainer,
then take on Brock. 

|+|Getting the Pokes|+|
If you have squirtle, level it to 12 and crush the gym.

If you chose bulbasaur, do the same.

If you chose charmander, level it to level 14 and use metal claw. 
Also, get a mankey from the route beside Viridian City, Route 22

Also, catch a weak pokemon like a lv 3 caterpie. No leveling needed.

Geodude isn't new. Low kick it with mankey, or metal claw it charmander. Or use your bulbasaur/squirtle.
It will frequently use defense curl, so watch that when using matal claw and low kick. 
If you have bulby or squirtle, ignore this. use your elemental move. When it's down, switch to the weaky you caught earlier.
heal mankey and charmander if possible. Let it die, and swap out mankey. Low kick like heck.
When mankey dies, switch to charmander and metal claw.Done. You now have the BOULDERBADGE!!!!!

You should hope to have caught a pikachu in viridian forest. If not, use a bulbasaur/ivysaur.
If you have a charmander of squirtle, catch a bellsprout/oddish after nugget bridge and train it to level 20. Use a level
20 team to beat Misty. Spearow helps too.

Both her Pokemon are very fast, but that isnt a problem. Send out you grass poke first. 
Use growth for bellsprout and status effect if oddish. Then absorb/ vine whip till it dies.

When starmie comes out, switch to a pokemon like pikachu and try to paralyze it or something to ill his effects. 
When thats done, hit it till you die. Send out your grass, and kill the starmire using your grass attack. If it dies,
YOU JUST GOT THE CASCADEBADGE!!!!!
