Starting with the Junior class: Junior Class 4th Rank: ==Sophia== >Singles and Doubles< Power: * Angle: * Spin: * Speed: * Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat: * The basic starter-off player to get you familiarising with this game. She is an extremely easy person to beat, so don't take too long on her. ==Meg== >Doubles< Power: * Angle: * Spin: * Speed: * Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Sophia): * The pushover doubles partner for the pushover 4th rank Sophia. Enough said. Junior Class 3rd rank: ==Mason== >Singles and Doubles< Power: ** Angle: *1/2 Spin: * Speed: * Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat: * Just watch out for his power when you're a junior. Act quickly and you should be able to find weaknesses in his game, then exploit that to win. ==Chad== >Doubles< Power: ** Angle: *1/2 Spin: * Speed: * Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Mason): * Just use the same strategies you used on Mason. For doubles, just hit cross- court and down the line and you will be fine. Junior Class 2nd rank: ==Sasha== >Singles and Doubles< Power: * Angle: ** Spin: ** Speed: * Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat: * Has a bit technique!! She usually uses slice, and sometimes may pull out a random lob. Just don't go too close to the net and you should be fine beating Sasha. ==Sylvia== >Doubles< Power: * Angle: * Spin: * Speed: ** Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Sasha): * She is a great hump-a-lump. However, she can run. FAST. Just make her run a lot and you should be fine. Junior class Top rank: ==Chris== >Singles and Doubles< Power: * Angle: ** Spin: * Speed: ** Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat: *1/2 I hate people with speed. However, Chris isn't TOO fast, so that is okay. Just keep hitting the ball around the court and Chris will go down. FAST. ==Kyle== >Doubles< Power: ** Angle: * Spin: * Speed: ** Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Chris): * Junior class is easy. So are Kyle and Chris. Have fun. Senior class: Senior class 4th rank: ===Gary=== >Singles and Doubles< (3rd rank in Doubles) Power: *** Angle: *1/2 Spin: * Speed: * Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat: * Easier than some of the Junior class people. Your defensive power shot (You can only get that for now) should be enough. Hit it around the court, and Gary will be easily beaten. ===Shawn=== >Doubles< (4th rank doubles) Power: ** Angle: * Spin: *1/2 Speed: *1/2 Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Linda): *1/2 Pretty easy, just hit the ball and let your double partner do the work. If you're a volleyer, lob, drop shot and smash as often as you can. ===Linda=== >Doubles< (4th rank doubles) Power: * Angle: * Spin: *1/2 Speed: **1/2 Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Shawn): *1/2 Use strategies for Shawn Senior class 3rd rank: ===Jet=== >Doubles< (3rd rank doubles) Power: ** Angle: ** Spin: ** Speed: ** Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Gary): *1/2 A very solid unit. Coming with Gary really packs a punch. However, just play your best and you should be fine. ===Kyoko=== >Singles and Doubles< (2nd rank Doubles) Power: *1/2 Angle: *** Spin: ** Speed: ** Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat: *1/2 So cute!!! Kyoko is cute, but she is also easy to beat. She goes along the same lines as Sasha. Slice + lobs. Just use the same strategies you used for Sasha. Senior Class 2nd rank: ===Micki=== >Doubles< Power: *1/2 Angle: *** Spin: ** Speed: ** Offensive PS: N/A Defensive PS: N/A Difficulty to beat (With Kyoko): * Two times Technique!! With your well-trained Doubles-Partner, you should easily PWN these two. ===Roy=== >Singles and Doubles< (Top rank Doubles) (Varsity 4th rank doubles) Power: *** Angle: *** Spin: ** Speed: ** Offensive PS: Power Shot Defensive PS: Running Save Difficulty to beat: ** A very solid player. Very solid. He also has power shots. The good thing to do would be to get the High-Power Shot (Level 3 Muscle) and use that against him. That would give you a huge advantage. Otherwise, just use level 1 Power Shot like he does. Senior Top Rank: ===Emi=== >Singles and Doubles< (Varsity 3rd rank doubles) Power: ** Angle: ** Spin: ** Speed: ***1/2 Offensive PS: Curve Shot Defensive PS: Quick Save Difficulty to beat: **1/2 Emi is ANNOYING. She is fast. She's left-handed too, so watch out for that. Challenge her with decent stats and a decent power shot would be the key to winning. Varsity Class: Varsity Class 4th rank: ====Paula==== >Singles and Doubles< (2nd rank Doubles) Power: *** Angle: *** Spin: ** Speed: ***1/2 Offensive PS: Tackle Shot Defensive PS: Quick Save Difficulty to beat: ** Paula is pretty easy. Just hit the ball around the court and you should come out fine. ====Skipper==== >Doubles< Power: *** Angle: *** Spin: ** Speed: *** Offensive PS: Tackle Shot Defensive PS: Quick Save Difficulty to beat (With Roy): ** Quite easy. Just watch out for the fast power shot. That's all. Varity Class 3rd rank: ====Flit==== >Doubles< Power: * Angle: ** Spin: ***** Speed: ** Offensive PS: Slider Shot Defensive PS: Quick Save Difficulty to beat (With Emi): ** Spin doctor!!! He has basically maximum spin. Just be careful and you should be fine. ====Tori==== >Singles and Doubles< (Top rank Doubles) Power: ** Angle: **** Spin: ** Speed: *** Offensive PS: Control Shot Defensive PS: Running Save Difficulty to beat: ** Tori just has excellent control. Just keep concentrated and hit the ball hard at her. Varsity Class 2nd Rank: ====Whisker==== >Singles and Doubles< Power: ***1/2 Angle: ** Spin: ** Speed: *** Offensive PS: High-Power Shot Defensive PS: Running Save Difficulty to beat: * He is strong, but slow and have little skill. Easy. Varsity Class Top rank: ====Elroy==== >Singles and Doubles< Power: ***1/2 Angle: *** Spin: ***1/2 Speed: **** Offensive PS: Blizzard Shot Defensive PS: Typhoon Save Difficulty to beat: *** Elroy is one the best players in the game. He has good everything, really. He is, no doubt one of the hardest characters to beat. He has Blizzard Shot, which is also one of the best Power Shots in the game. Just do your best, and you should be able to overcome him. Island Open: Singles: =====Barb===== >Singles only< Power: ** Angle: ***1/2 Spin: *** Speed: *** Offensive PS: High-Power Shot Defensive PS: Bubble Save Difficulty to beat: * After your encounter with Elroy, Barb is a cinch. Just be careful, that's all. =====Sass===== >Singles only< Power: **** Angle: ** Spin: ** Speed: ** Offensive PS: Flying Shot Defensive PS: Quick-Step Save Difficulty to beat: * Another easy ass person to beat. Just don't let him "over"power you. =====Elroy===== >Singles only< Power: ***1/2 Angle: *** Spin: ***1/2 Speed: **** Offensive PS: Blizzard Shot Defensive PS: Typhoon Save Difficulty to beat: ***1/2 Repeat procedure for before. He's just a little bit harder this time... =====Willy===== >Singles and Doubles< Power: *1/2 Angle: **** Spin: ***** Speed: ***1/2 Offensive PS: Summoner Shot Defensive PS: Hand-Power Save Difficulty to beat: **** I hate spin. I really do. One solution. Use power, and don't let him fool you. Doubles: =====Chas===== Power: ** Angle: **** Spin: ** Speed: **** Offensive PS: High-Power Shot Defensive PS: Superswift Save Difficulty to beat (With Mel): **1/2 Chas is fast, but he is weak. Just play him (and Mel) around the court and then look for oppotunities and play powerful power shots. =====Mel===== Power: ** Angle: *** Spin: *** Speed: **** Offensive PS: Slider Shot Defensive PS: High Jump Save Difficulty to beat (With Chas): **1/2 Mel is a bit more annoying than Chas because of her spin and the fact that she loves to volley, however, she is still pretty easy. Just lob often and hit hard. =====Dweezil===== Power: ***1/2 Angle: ***1/2 Spin: *** Speed: **1/2 Offensive PS: Stunner Shot Defensive PS: Quick Step Save Difficulty to beat (With Mynx): ** Dweezil is the Champion of the previous Island Open. I do not know how. He is crap. Very slow, only having good power to redeem himself. The power shot he has is ok. Just hit the ball, and Dweezil's speed would be his killer. =====Mynx===== Power: **1/2 Angle: **** Spin: *** Speed: *** Offensive PS: Flashflop Shot Defensive PS: Quick Step Save Difficulty to beat (With Dweezil): ** Mynx is a little better than Dweezil stat-wise, however, her power shot really lets her down. It's one of those shots that cannot power shot ace the opponent. However, without power shots, she is a lot better than Dweezil. =====Sheri===== Power: ***1/2 Angle: **** Spin: ***1/2 Speed: **** Offensive PS: Gyro Shot Defensive PS: Illusory Save Difficulty to beat (With Willy): ***1/2 She's is a bery good player. If I made a patch with Sheri using a better power shot than she is using right now (Gyro Shot is crap), such as High-Power Shot, she would kick butt. Just use your usual tactics, and look for times when she stuffs up. MARIO WORLD: The Mario characters have unique power shots without names. I shall just give them names myself. The defensive power shots used by Mario characters are like low-level offensive Power-Shots, so be careful ======Mario====== Power: **** => ****1/2 when starred Angle: **** => ***** when starred Spin: ***1/2 => **** when starred Speed: **** => ***** when starred Offensive PS: High-Power Hammer Shot Defensive PS: Low-level Curve Shot Difficulty to beat: **** => ***** when starred Mario is the best Mario character. No questions asked. He has good power shots, and awesome stats. Just use your regular tactics. ======Peach====== Power: *** => ***1/2 when starred Angle: ****1/2 => ***** when starred Spin: ***1/2 => **** when starred Speed: ***1/2 => **** when starred Offensive PS: Loveheart Shot Defensive PS: Loveheart Lob Difficulty to beat: ***** I hate Peach. With all my fury. I hate her power shot. When you are hit by it, you spin like crazy for something like 2 seconds, while she just pops the ball somewhere you can get it. I hate Peach. Just hit the ball where she can't reach. Bleaugh. ======Luigi====== Power: **** => ***** when starred Angle: **** => ****1/2 when starred Spin: **** Speed: **** => ***** when starred Offensive PS: Spinstar Hammer Shot Defensive PS: Suck in shot Difficulty to beat: ****1/2 Luigi rushes to the net. Just lob him or topspin the ball around him to claim victory. ======Waluigi====== Power: **** => ****1/2 when starred Angle: ***1/2 => **** when starred Spin: **** Speed: **** Offensive PS: Super Slider Shot Defensive PS: Swimming Save Difficulty to beat: *** Use the same tactics for Luigi. You will also find that Waluigi is much easier, too. ======Donkey Kong====== Power: ***** Angle: ****1/2 Spin: ** => *** when starred Speed: ** Offensive PS: Barrel Shot Defensive PS: Banana Save Difficulty to beat: *** Easy. Powerful and easy. Just have great power and angle and DK goes DOWN!! ======Bowser====== Power: ***** Angle: ***** Spin: *1/2 => **1/2 when starred Speed: *1/2 => ** when starred Offensive PS: Flame Shot Defensive PS: Rolling Shell Save Difficulty to beat: **1/2 Even easier than DK because of his lower speed. Use the same tactics for DK. Whoo. That's all the characters. ::The Power Shots:: Here are the power shots and their requirements (As your PS stats). The power, is the power, spin is the spin, angle is the angle and after-effect is what happens when the opponent returns the ball. The experience points you need: Level 1: 50 Level 2: 150 Level 3: 300 Level 4: 500 Level 5: 800 Level 6: 1200 Level 7: 1600 Level 8: 2000 Level 9: 2400 Level 10: 3000 ==Offensive Power Shots== >Power Shot< Requirement: 1 Muscle Power: 2/5 Spin: 1/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 2.5/5 After-effect: Lightly pushes the opponent back a bit. supercaptor's comments: It's a decent starting shot to beat some of the lower level opponents. However, as you progress on, this shot is not enough. >High-Power Shot< Requirement: 3 Muscle Power: 3.5/5 Spin: 0.5/5 (Whatever spin the last hit was used) Angle: 3/5 After effect: Pushes the opponent quite a bit. supercaptor's comments: Another decent shot, and this is enough to beat the game on Normal. >Curve Shot< Requirement: 1 Spin Power: 2.5/5 Spin: 3.5/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 3/5 After effect: Opponent spins around uncontrollably supercaptor's comments: A decent shot for starters. >Slider Shot< Requirement: 3 Spin Power: 3/5 Spin: 4.5/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 4/5 After effect: Opponent spins around uncontrollably supercaptor's comments: A very useful shot that can last you through the whole game. >Control Shot< Requirement: 1 Balance Power: 2/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 2.5/5 After effect: Pushes the opponent back slightly supercaptor's comments: It's not that good. For when you get it, you need something better, so no. >Flashflop Shot< Requirement: 3 Balance Power: 0/5 (Drop Shot) Spin: 1.5/5 (Slice) Angle: 4/5 After effect: Traps opponent in a bright yellow circle supercaptor's comments: Not good for actually winning on the power shot (Unless you're playing on clay court), but can slow down your opponent so you can finish them off next hit. >Tackle Shot< Requirement: 1 Body Power: 4/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 2.5/5 After effect: Greatly pushes back the opponent. supercaptor's comments: Very good Lvl 1 shot, is powerful and accurate. >Stunner Shot< Requirement: 3 Body Power: 4/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 4/5 After effect: Pushes back the opponent while stunning him/her supercaptor's comments: Very good shot. Can be used to beat the whole game. >Flying Shot< Requirement: 4 Muscle, 2 Jump Power: 4/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 2/5 After effect: Greatly pushes back the opponent. supercaptor's comments: For something that's not basic (one type of PS skills only), this one is not good. Can hardly get it past your opponent even though it is powerful. Good thing is that you can activate this shot from further-than -every-other-shot away. >Gyro Shot< Requirement: 5 Spin, 4 Balance Power: 1/5 (Lob Shot) Spin: 0/5 Angle: 2/5 After effect: Opponent spins around uncontrollably supercaptor's comments: This shot is terrible. You cannot hit winners with this shot unless you are versing someone like Luigi who runs straight to the net. It is good doubles, however, because lobs are godly in doubles. >Dragon Shot< Requirement: 5 Muscle, 2 Body Power: 4.5/5 Spin: 3/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 4/5 After effect: Pushes the opponent into corner. supercaptor's comments: This is one of my favourite shots. It's so useful and powerful. It is very fast and has a great after effect. One of the best shots in the game, this is. >Sonic Shot< Requirement: 3 ESP, 6 Spin Power: 4/5 Spin: 4/5 (Slice) Angle: 3/5 After effect: Pushes back the opponent while stunning him/her supercaptor's comments: This shot is pretty good. It can be so fast that you can't see it. However, this shot is very unreliable because it can be very slow and if you and your opponent are both at the net, it becomes a crappy little lob that your opponent can just smash back and win, and this is problem for all slice power shots. >Blizzard Shot< Requirement: 5 Speed, 6 Response, 7 Spin Power: 4.5/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 4.5/5 After effect: Encases opponent in ice supercaptor's comments: Another excellent shot. It is fast and accurate. PERIOD. >Summoner Shot< Requirement: 7 Response, 7 Muscle, 5 Balance Power: 4/5 Spin: 4.5/5 (Slice) Angle: 3.5/5 After effect: Traps opponent in a circle supercaptor's comments: Awesome. I can't get enough of this shot. It's such a cool shot while being awesome at the same time. It has very good spin, angle and power. >Specter Shot< Requirement: 6 ESP, 8 Spin, 6 Balance Power: 5/5 Spin: 3.5/5 Angle: 3.5/5 After effect: Pushes back the opponent while stunning him/her supercaptor's comments: The best shot in the game due to its insane speed. It is so fast that its hard to see it. WOW. >Volcano Shot< Requirement: 10 Jump, 10 Muscle, 10 Balance, 10 Body Power: 2/5 (Lob shot) Spin: 0/5 Angle: 2/5 After effect: Pushes the opponent into corner. supercaptor's comments: Crap. This is a crappy shot for a finale shot. It is just a lob shot that cannot win points!! It's good for doubles, but not in singles. ==Defensive Power Shots== >Running Save< Requirement: 1 Speed Power: 1/5 Spin: 2/5 (Slice) Angle: 1/5 Reach: 2/5 supercaptor's comments: Even for a starter save, this is still pretty crap. You would do better to get 250 more Experience points for Superswift Save. >Superswift Save< Requirement: 3 Speed Power: 1.5/5 Spin: 2/5 (Slice) Angle: 1.5/5 Reach: 3.5/5 supercaptor's comments: Now this is okay. It is a decent save, but still quite at the bottom. >Lunging Save< Requirement: 1 Jump Power: 1.5/5 Spin: 1/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 2/5 Reach: 1/5 supercaptor's comments: This is not too bad, but the reach is terrible. >High-Jump Save< Requirement: 3 Jump Power: 2.5/5 Spin: 1/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 3/5 Reach: 3/5 supercaptor's comments: This is very good for a net player, but not suitable for a base line player. Why?? When you are at the net this shot can hit winners but at the base line, it is useless. >Quick Save< Requirement: 1 Response Power: 1/5 Spin: 0.5/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 2/5 Reach: 2/5 supercaptor's comments: I would prefer this to Running Save any day. It is very effective for a starter shot. >Quick-Step Save< Requirement: 3 Response Power: 2.5/5 Spin: 0.5/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 3/5 Reach: 4/5 supercaptor's comments: An awesome save for Island Open. It can get back most shots and has decent power on it. >Hand-Power Shot< Requirement: 1 ESP Power: 0.5/5 Spin: 0.5/5 (Whatever spin the last hit was used) Angle: 1.5/5 Reach: 2/5 supercaptor's comments: I liked it for a while, but now I hate it because it is crap. It has practically NO power at all. >Psychic Save< Requirement: 3 ESP Power: 2/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 1.5/5 Reach: 4/5 supercaptor's comments: Still not much power, but at least it's a lot better with the reach. >Typhoon Save< Requirement: 4 Jump, 2 Spin Power: 2.5/5 Spin: 3.5/5 (Top spin) Angle: 3/5 Reach: 3.5/5 supercaptor's comments: This is a really nice save, but the problem is that you save the ball, the opponent can really easily win with this shot because of its spinning back at the opponent. >Bubble Save< Requirement: 3 Speed, 4 Spin Power: 3/5 Spin: 3/5 (Slice) Angle: 3.5/5 Reach: 3.5/5 supercaptor's comments: A really nice save again, but sometimes it can be so weak (It usually is quite strong) that it doesn't even make it over the net. These good save always have to have loopholes. >Illusory Save< Requirement: 4 Speed, 4 Response Power: 3/5 Spin: 3/5 (Slice) Angle: 3/5 Reach: 4/5 supercaptor's comments: A darn effective save. It can get a lot of balls back. However, once you see Falcon-Dive Save, kiss this one goodbye. >Spider Save< Requirement: 3 Response, 4 Balance Power: 3.5/5 Spin: 2/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 2.5/5 Reach: 2.5/5 supercaptor's comments: I like this save because it is powerful. However, it has crapstatic reach. Bleaugh. >Falcon-Dive Save< Requirement: 5 Response, 5 ESP Power: 3/5 Spin: 5/5 (Top Spin) Angle: 3.5/5 Reach: 5/5 supercaptor's comments: I love this save, it's one of the best. It has awesome reach and darn good power. Use this when you get it. >Shark-Bite Save< Requirement: 8 Speed, 8 Response, 4 Body Power: 4.5/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 3/5 Reach: 5/5 supercaptor's comments: This competes with Falcon Dive to be the best shot. The thing I don't like about this shot is that you won't know where you are because you can't see the court. >Shooting Star Save< Requirement: 10 Response, 10 Jump, 10 ESP Power: 5/5 Spin: 0/5 Angle: 4/5 Reach: 5/5 supercaptor's comments: The fastest save in the game!!! This is an awesome save and should be used. >Rainbow Save< Requirement: 10 Speed, 10ESP, 10 Spin, 8 Balance Power: 1/5 (Drop shot) Spin: 3/5 Angle: 4/5 Reach: 5/5 supercaptor's comments: Besides the crappy power of the shot (I hate that), the shot is okay. ::Tips:: 1. Wait for the opponent to execute their power shot first when you both have a power shot ready to go. 2. Keep hitting the ball to one direction, then the opponent would get confused if you suddenly change direction. 3. Cross-court power shots can work very well. 4. Lob when playing doubles. The AI won't know what to do! 5. When hitting power-shots, hit the ball at the highest point if possible. That is when the ball will travel the fastest. ::Conclusion:: Mario Tennis: Power Tour is a trademark of Camelot Studios. Read my review on it if you haven't already.
