If you have never played a Strategy RPG then I seriously suggest reading this to understand what goes on during this style of game. If you have played a Strategy RPG then I still would like you to read this because there are a few things that warp the rules of a basic Strategy RPG. The Judgment System The queen of Ivalice sees to it that the royal judges enforce any laws the prince wishes upon the kingdom. Anyone who disobeys the laws during a battle suffers swift judgment with a steep fine or immediate imprisonment. Be sure to check the laws before you enter a battle so that you do not have this happen to you. Some illegal activities have more harsh penalties than others do. Judges issue out Yellow and Red Cards to lawbreakers during battle. Yellow Cards are equal to one fine each at the end of the battle, while the Red Cards are for immediate jail time. When receiving your Yellow Card at the end of the battle you will have to pay a fine. Fines can be levied in Gil or cards, stat penalties for individual characters, or a loss of the AP or treasures that you would have acquired at the end of the battle. Tactical Battles and Strategies Every battle in Ivalice is built upon a strategic turn-based system. The selection and placement of party members is key to success because placing someone in the wrong position once can cost the battle. When unites deal the final blow and KO an opponent, they receive Judge Points (JP) that they can use to perform combos and special moves. Any strong unit can just plow through low-level opponents on a battlefield but when bosses roll around you need everyone that you got to take them out so you need to keep them all relatively the same level. At the beginning of the battle you will have a small space to place your units down in to start the battle. Be strategic and place weaker enemies or magic users in the back behind your heavy hitters and units with high HP. The attack order list displays the order that units will get to attack; pressing L will bring it up. When summoning or casting magic you can hit right to see when they will use it prior to casting it to see if you will get the results that you desire. Use the available cover that you have to your advantage. Place your units with their backs to walls to avoid back attacks and such, placing them back to back also works. When you start the battle scout for the healers and take them out because they can make the battle linger and when it does it is not usually in your favor. Keep yourself well stocked when entering a battle so that the items you have will be enough to last the battle. Use some ranged attacks from archers because they can attack from a high spot and not within reach of the enemy. Watch your colored magic because you might accidentally heal the opponent than hurt them if you are un-careful. Go for the back and side attacks they produce higher chances of success. In all RPGs there are certain attributes that the characters have and are increased by increasing the characters level, using stat increasing items, or by equipping armor, accessories and such. This game is a Strategy RPG that involves the following attributes: Level - The unit\'s current level. Experience - Current experience gained. For every 100 experience (EXP) gained, 1 level is gained. Move - How far the character can move in one turn in terms of panels. Jump - How high and far the character can jump. Evade% - The rate at which the character can dodge. Weapon Attack - Strength of physical attacks. Weapon Defense - Defense against physical attacks. Magic Attack - Strength of magic Attacks. Magic Resistance - Defense against magic Attacks Speed - How often the character\'s turn bar is filled. Obviously the higher these stats are the better off you are against enemies. Magic and the Totema Most job types have exclusive magic that they learn by equipping special armor or weapons. If you\'ve ever played Final Fantasy IX than you will know the AP system there hones the skills and magic in the weapons and armor and to use the skill without the use of that specific weapon you had to master it, the same applies here. The magic system here is elemental-based where each spell has a elemental type to it and attacking someone weak against that type will strike for more damage, but attacking with the same type will heal the opponent. The Totema are sacred beasts that protect the mysterious crystals throughout the kingdom of Ivalice. If you just so happen to destroy one of these crystals the Totema guarding it will join you and your party. Each Totema is tied to one of the five races in Ivalice and only characters of the same race as the Totema can summon it. It costs 10 JP to summon a Totema so the best thing to do is to save it for bosses. Character Customization for Jobs Each characters growth is limited only by their race. By changing jobs a character can become more diverse and more deadly. Try to let your members learn a wide variety of abilities and master them since they will retain those abilities. Each unit can use two full sets of abilities so figure out which works best for you and your party. The difference between the leveling here of that in Final Fantasy Tactics (PSX) is that getting new jobs is caused by mastering abilities for the previous classes and not by the level of the class. The Races and Jobs Bangaa - Lizard like race known throughout Ivalice for their battle spirit. The strength and defense of the Bangaa make them formidable hand-to-hand combatants and should always be on your frontline. Humans - If you are reading this you are human, if not then congratulations. The most common race in Ivalice is also the most diverse and has the most possible job classes. Good all around so use them where you need them. Moogles - A fun-loving mischievous race that specializes in using tools and magic. They are great for tricking or messing with your opponents to add that little boost to win the battle. Nu Mou - A quiet and peaceful race that is amazingly adept at using magic. These creatures shine in battle by casting magic in the field for either aiding their allies or destroying their opponents. Viera - A beautiful female race that specializes in agility, spirituality, and finesse. Their jobs combine speed with stealth and summon magic making them extremely deadly in the field of battle and a must for any clan. Below is a chart of the Races and the Jobs they can have. You can also trade units to get the perfect one to add to your party. Sounds pretty nice except for the 5,000 Gil that the pub charges for EVERY trade. Multiplayer is pretty cool to since you can link up with friends to experience the secrets of Ivalice together. Cooperate to defeat an enemy boss, or see who can defeat the most monsters in a competitive mission. Some treasures can only be found in multiplayer missions so make your friends get this game. Equipping Characters and Learning Abilities Each character has five equipment slots in which they can put weapons, armor, and other such things for battle. In most cases, each character can equip only 1 weapon, 1 piece of armor, and 1 helm. The other 2 slots are reserved for accessories, shields and two-handed weapons. Try to remember that when equipping the items have abilities for you to learn. Although most weapons have abilities the armor does not in most cases. AP (Ability Points) is earned in battle and enables the unit to learn new abilities. Each character can equip up to five abilities: two Action abilities, one Reaction ability, one Support ability, and one Combo ability. The World of Ivalice The world map shows everywhere that you can go and is the primary screen for moving around. You can check your current where abouts and see where you have to go and pressing L will allow you to see the Laws. The party menu shows your units and their stats, the clan menu shows the details on your clan including its current stats and title, any current missions, your turf, mission items, supporting clans and more. The link menu should only be used during the time when you wish to link up with one of your friends. The area list displays ever area you\'ve placed on the map, and the system menu displays important game options including the ability to load and save. Some events occur on the world map and you will spend a lot of time on it so every choice matters as you shape the world of Ivalice to your whim. After certain missions, you\'ll receive a location symbol that you can place on any empty terrain space on the Ivalice world map. Where you place towns and terrain can trigger treasure hunts. The shaking of a symbol can identify treasure hunts. Story line events and engagements with other clans on the world map will often result in random battles. All random battles offer treasure, Gil and AP - A great way to build up your clan. Important Locations in Ivalice The pubs in Ivalice have missions and rumors they can share with you. Listen to some rumors and missions can be unlocked so that you can undertake the mission to earn some Gil or some items. Most missions are Non-Battle missions meaning that you send off your units and they don\'t fight to accomplish the task. To determine how well a unit will do when sending him off check his position, if he is kneeling he is very unlikely to accomplish it, standing is about a 50% chance of completion, and if the unit is jumping he is likely to succeed. Regular missions are different, the citizens of Ivalice will post requests for aid at the local pubs and you can accept them for a small fee. You will need a special quest item to sign up for some regular missions. Although these are only two types there are still two more called Encounter in which you go to kill some enemies, and free-area where you simply roam; all missions have a symbol type. Cyril\'s shop is the first one that is available to you and is the one that you will use most frequently. Checking the shops often will ensure that you are up-to-date on the latest items and equipment. The more turf your clan has will lower the prices and widen the variety in items. The Card Keeper (Ezel Berbier) will tell you about his secret card shop in Cadoan after you save him. The monster bank is where any monster you catch with the Hunter\'s Capture ability will go. Visit the Monster Bank to spend time with your monsters and help raise them by giving them items. The Clans of Ivalice Clans travel the lands of Ivalice competing for turf notoriety and treasure. Managing your own clan is essential to its success. After naming your clan you will receive a title that tells you how well known your clan is according to the citizens. The missions you accept and the turf you control can also change the clan title. The Mission List shows all the missions you have taken up but have not finished yet. The Clan Report displays all of the missions you have accepted and completed. The Clan Turf obviously displays your clans turf; Gray symbols indicate unclaimed areas, red symbols are areas under attack by a rival clan, and normal symbols are your turf. The Mission Item option displays all mission items you currently own. Your clan can have up to 20 Anti-law cards at any time; the law cards option is where you will find these. Support Clan option is available if you have a friends clan in and it will display the clans\' names, levels, joined mission info and more. The Clan Status screen allows you to view your clan\'s points, number of freed areas (turf), and number of missions completed in the Clan Status section. For every 100 Clan Points your clan earns, it will gain a clan level. The Clan Skills screen shows all of your clan\'s current skills; Clan Skills rise when your clan completes a mission. Some of them require that your clan has acquired a certain level before it can be undertaken. Clan Skills only affect your ability to accept certain missions from the pubs. There are a total of 8 clan skills; Combat, Negotiate, Appraise, Gather, Smithing, Magic, Craft, and Track. Combat Skill Level - How strong your clan is in combat situations. Negotiate Skill Level - How well your clan negotiates with other clans. Appraise Skill Level - Your clan\'s ability to appraise items. Gather Skill Level - How well your clan can gather what it needs from the wild. Smithing Skill Level - How adept your clan is at working with metals and ores. Magic Skill Level - The strength of your clan in the ways of magic. Craft Skill Level - How adept your clan is at turning raw materials into useful items such as armor. Track Skill Level - Your clan\'s aptitude at tracking down people and monsters. Status Ailments and Enhancements Some attacks can cause your units to suffer status ailments. It is not certain how many copies of the book still exist, but it I said That whoever should hold one holds the power to change the world. Many lived out their days searching the world for surviving copies, But none were ever found. It was an illusion, they said. A myth - but one worth dying for. You begin the game in the town of St. Ivalice where the children are having a snowball fight, no one wanted Mewt, and he is made fun of for his teddy bear. Ritz stands up for the \"new kid\" and tells him to at least say his name, so give him a name, the default name Marche will be the one used in this FAQ/Walkthrough. ------------------------------ Team Activity: Snowball Fight!| ------------------------------ Not technically a real battle but it should get you used to the battle interface. You are given some pointers from Mr. Leslaie and Ritz on how to conduct the snowball fight and than you may move. Everyone on the other team tries to hit Mewt so don\'t worry any and throw a few snowballs until the guys start picking on Mewt again. After the fight the guys say how Mewt is such a wussy and how lame he is, when Ritz tries to defend him they call her whitey-locks and such until Mr. Leslaie returns to check up on the children. Before everyone disperses Mewt says he is going to the store to buy a book and asks Marche along but Marche declines because his brother gets out of the hospital today. Marche suggests that Mewt brings the book over to his house and Mewt says ok, and Marche than invites Ritz and Mewt and Ritz leave. Another screen shows Mr. Randell, Mewt\'s father, being scolded by his boss. Mewt explains his past about when his mom died how his dad broke down big time. We than head to the upstairs of Marche\'s house and meet his brother, Doned. They talk for a bit and Marche\'s mother tells Marche his friends are here. Ritz introduces Mewt and herself while Marche just wants to see the book. Mewt tells him that he doesn\'t even know the name of it, not even the guy at the bookstore knew the name and how it is apparently very old. They open the book and attempt to read it but as Marche points out they cannot read it at all because the letters are weird, maybe some magic spell. Ritz points out a circle and suggests it\'s in Latin. Mewt reads, \"...Alta oron. Sondus kameela...\" and everyone agrees that it sure does sound like magic. Mewt asks if they ever read a book and wondered, \"What if the world of this book was the real world?\", Ritz tells how she feels that books are boring and that she\'d rather play a game that involves fighting monsters. Marche asks which game Ritz would make real and she answers that it\'s a good question, Mewt on the other hand suggests \"Final Fantasy\" because it\'s his favorite. Ritz and Mewt begin to leave but Marche says he\'ll see them out. We head to a cut scene that shows the world of now changing into the world of Ivalice. Marche awakes to this unfamiliar place, he walks around and accidentally bumps into a bangaa, he calls him a lizard man after apologizing, but it\'s too late because the bangaa hate being called lizards, Montblanc tries to bail him out and as they walk away the bangaa engages him. ----------- Mission - | ----------- Lizard Men!? After the battle the injured Bangaa uses a potion and is sent to jail for an infraction of the law. Montblanc warns Marche to never, ever call a bangaa a lizard, then asks him where he is from. Montblanc goes on to tell Marche that they are in the city of Cyril, in the land of Ivalice. Marche tells Montblanc that the world he is from involves normal things like dogs and cats and that his computer games are the ones he has seen bangaas in. Montblanc suggests that the game he plays in is just like the real world they are in, Marche agrees and now Montblanc is the one confused. Montblanc says that there meeting was no accident and that he will show him around, Marche asks his name and follows his new friend to where the clan members hang out. Marche wants to be in the clan and so Montblanc introduces him to the other members, but he doesn\'t know the name. Montblanc tells him that the group is small and that no name has been suggested yet, so he asks Marche to do it, Clan Nutsy is the default name and the one that will be used throughout this FAQ/Walkthrough. When you return to the world map place the city of Strohm somewhere on the map and then enter the pub of Cyril. Take the mission that they have available and Montblanc will note that it should be a success since it\'s Marche\'s first. Use Sheep Count if you need to and have fun with this battle. Buy the latest equipment with what money you have because you are going to need the best you can get. When everyone else is gone put the Fighter to sleep and hack away with your swords, remember that Ritz and Shara are here too so adjust your strategy to fit in with theirs. After the battle Ritz says that she is surprised to see Marche in a clan since he was so timid in the other world. Ritz explains that they are in the game of \"Final Fantasy\" except it has just warped the world into the game and not really became part of the game itself. Ritz also goes on to say that she really doesn\'t want to leave and that if Marche wants to return to the normal world than she refuses to help him. Head back to Cyril to see a scene with Marche talking about how he does trust Montblanc but wishes to find a way back to his world. He ponders over the thought of never returning to his world but Montblanc just tells him to chill out and to take it easy. Place the Eluut Sands symbol on the map and continue on for the next story battle. This will destroy your initial threat and the only one you should have for this battle. Cast Sheep Count and Blackout on enemies simultaneously so that your Dragoon and Fighter can obliterate them, Dragoon using Jump and the Fighter using Beatdown. The White Mage should stay back and heal, casting Cure and Protect so that your attackers stay healthy. After the battle Marche asks, \"What would make a monster go crazy?\" since he has never seen them react that way. Marche asks Montblanc if the monsters go crazy like this often, Montblanc responds that sometimes they get jobs like this. Marche tells him that he would like to know what causes it, Montblanc states that there are many theories for why the creatures go mad, but he believes in the crystal theory. He explains to Marche that people say the palace made these magical crystals that have enormous magical powers which supposively effect the creatures. Marche asks if he thinks a crystal is near and Montblanc says that it\'s just a theory, and how could anyone create something in a wrinkle in space? Place the Ulei River symbol on the map and head back to Cyril. Once in Cyril go to the pub and do any side quests you want to, afterwards take the first mission, Twisted Flow. Prepare yourself for this battle and make sure that you have a healer with Cura and Esuna (Life would help but not neccessary), a White Monk with atleast Chakra and Air Render, Marche to a Fighter, Montblanc with all level 2 magic spells and your Archer with decent weapon power and the Aim: Leg and Blackout abilities. Once prepared, then journey to Ulei River. When Marche first reaches the Ulei River he notices nothing different, then he feels something. A strange black nothingness begins to warp the surroundings and grows larger everytime it returns until it engulfs Marche. He finds himself in some kind of ruins and notices a crystal in the back of it. After approaching the crystal he realizes that he is in a wrinkle in space and concludes that it was the crystal that was causing the river to bend and that warping was the way to discovering it. Marche wants to find out more of the crystal but decides to try and find a way out first, then a mysterious voice shouts, \"Speak your name, you who profane the light!\". A figure appears and says, \"I ask again: Speak your name, you who profane the light!\", Marche answers with his name and asks who this strange looking thing is. The figure answers, \"I am the totema Famfrit. I am wielder of the power. I am the protector\". Marche is confused but realizes that Famfrit does not care whether he be here for the crystal or not and Famfrit summons 2 Ahriman and 2 Floateye by his side; A Judge appears and calms Marche of his fear of death. ----------- Mission 005| ----------- Twisted Flow Rank: 3 To Win: Defeat the boss! Roulette randomly selects a unit on the battlefield and that unit is automatically KO\'d, so take out the Ahriman to eliminate that big threat. No matter how many enemies are left on the battlefield all you have to do is defeat Famfrit the Totema to win the battle so you can use Sleep and Sheep Count to put the other enemies to sleep while you go all out on Famfrit. Famfrit is not able to be put to Sleep or hit with Darkness (should say 0% when you try) so don\'t even waste your time trying, it\'s pointless anyways. After the battle Marche asks why Famfrit protects the crystal, Famfrit responds, \"The crystal is the thread that binds our world...\" \"The world I was born to protect! With the white ones, I was born...\" \"White ones, skilled machinist, the source of my power.\" Famfrit than gives moogles his power. Any moogle can now summon Famfrit once all 10 JPs have been accumulated. Mewt appears in a cut scene in some magnificent palace, his father enters as the Chief Judgemaster. Mewt is unhappy, until his mother appears... alive. Mewt realizes that this new world is something that he can take advantage of since he is royalty and with his mother alive, he asks to make the laws stricter. Mewt leaves a mysterious message for Marche though, \"When the thread dissolves, so will this world. And another world will be revealed\". Marche concludes that the crystals are the key to getting back to his world and sets out on a journey with his friends to destroy them all as he finds that with the destruction of one crystal, it is not near enough. Place the city of Cadoan and enter it for a scene where the towns folk talk about how the royalty is so ignorant making the laws more and more obscene. They talk about a man named Ezel Berbier who apparently creates cards that fight the laws legally, Antilaw Cards. Marche says that if he could that he would love to find a way to meet him, then a man approaches and assures Marche that if he seeks out Ezel Berbier he has no chance of talking with him because he is a very busy man. The scene ends and a lot of new missions open up. Leave Cadoan and return to it when you are ready for the next story battle, going back to Cadoan will automatically initiate it. Do some side quests and keep getting more experience, abilities, and items to make the upcoming battles very easy. Let Ezel come back and camp inside your protection and have your Archer use Aim: Arm to disable the Illusionist. Your Black Mage should cast magic the entire time, preferably against the Illusionist. Ezel should cast Azoth which will put everyone to sleep, including your own, but if your lucky only the enemies will be asleep and you can pound them. After the battle the Judgemaster, Mewt\'s father, comes in with reinforcements and Ezel credits it as a penalty for his \"genius\". Judgemaster Randell says that the Nu Mou called him an eccentric loony and lays down a new advanced law that makes Ezel unable to use any abilities without going to jail immediately. He laughs at the Judgemaster and tells him that was a bad thing to do, but he will give a demonstration anyways; Ezel uses an antilaw card and him and Marche are taken to the pub in Cadoan. When they arrive Ezel explains that they underestimate him but to send in the Judgemaster himself was way too absurd. He then tells Marche about his secret card shop that carries all kinds of law cards and asks Marche to come there sometime when he wants to trade some cards. Head back to a pub and do some side quests if you desire, afterwards choose the top mission, Diamond Rain, to advance the story. ----------- Mission 007| ----------- Diamond Rain Rank: 3 To Win: Defeat all enemies! Also, all the enemies with the exception of the Lamia have an elemental weakness, so take advantage of it. If you can use Blackout on the Lamia your Black Mage, and if you have Summoner her too, should have plenty of time to wipe the field clean of enemies. After the battle Marche says that he was hoping the diamonds were a crystal but they are not, and he leaves the scene. After the battle place the Roda Volcano symbol on the map and head to a pub. Do some side quests if you can and then take the top mission, Hot Awakening. Before you go there though prepare yourself with anything you can; get the latest equipment and try to have at least one moogle able to summon Famfrit, if not it will just be a bit harder. ----------- Mission 008| ----------- Hot Awakening Rank: 3 To Win: Destroy all targets! This is a good battle to let your weaker units gain some experience and catch up in the levels, so let them in and have fun with this battle. After the battle Marche wonders about the Totema\'s connection to a race and then he notices the arrangement of the butterflies and how they represent magic, the sign of a Nu Mou. Mewt appears and Marche sees that he knows he is trying to get back to his world of before but Mewt wants him to stop. The screen fades back and Marche realizes that he is in a world of Mewt\'s desires and that\'s why he wants Marche out. Afterwards, you can place the Koringwood symbol on the map. Again, go back to a pub and do more side quests and when you are finished take the top mission, Magic Wood. ----------- Mission 009| ----------- Magic Wood Rank: 3 To Win: Defeat all enemies! Use Sleep and Sheep Count to put the enemies asleep and then bring in the Thief and Fighter to steal their armor and then kill them in one turn. Do this one by one and heal as required and you should be alright with this one. Also, try to learn Maintenance from here on out since many Thieves are in the upcoming battles (Maintenance stops thievery). After the battle a Judge comes and grabs them all and tells them to be quiet because they are off to jail. Marche smiles happily and exits the scene to conclude this battle. Place the Salika Wood symbol on the map and head to a pub for some side quests and the next story mission, Emerald Keep. If your Summoner has Sleep, you can combine skills with your Animist and place the entire enemy party to sleep which isn\'t a bad idea at all since it will allow you to steal a ton of great equipment and be ahead of the game rather than having to purchase it a few battles down the road. After Babus is defeated the battle ends and he leaves the scene saying that it won\'t be the last time you see him. Marche doesn\'t care but he is stilled worried about those crystals, so head back to a pub and check the latest on them. Do a few side quests to keep your levels up and then take the top mission, Pale Company to keep the story moving. Before the battle Marche enters the Nargai Cave to see nothing here, until the weird black hole takes him down into a temple again where another crystal lay and so does it\'s guardian, the Totema Adremmalech. ----------- Mission 011| ----------- Pale Company Rank: 3 To Win: Defeat the boss! Before Babus can get his point across to Marche, Mewt appears and is looking for his mother and then cries for Babus\' help, Babus then leaves and Marche does too. Back on the World Map, place the Baguba Port Symbol somewhere and enter Baguba Port for a scene. The scene involves Montblanc running into his little bro, Nono. Nono explains how his airship was wrecked in a hit and run and that the guys who are behind it all fled to the Jagd. Marche asks what a Jagd is and discovers that there are no laws in the Jagd, Montblanc comments that there is just one big problem with that, that you can die! Regardless of the consequences Marche agrees to help get the airship back. Steal the Genji Armlets and the Wygar equipment because it\'s pretty good stuff and it wastes time while you wait for the Toughskin to cast Resonate. Resonate will disable all targets actions so having your units with the Thief Hat equipped helps since the enemies won\'t be able to fight back after it\'s cast. Head back to Baguba Port after placing the Kudiks Peak symbol on the map. Nono will thank you for what you have done and open his shop up for you. I suggest that you do some sidequests as the battles ahead will soon get harder, and try to teach Marche at least Steal: Armor and Steal: Helm within the next battle or so. After you do that, it would be wise to take out the Black Mage (Not with magic of course) since it can cast Blizzaga. While you are doing this try to put at least 2 of the other units to sleep so you can buy yourself some time to kill the other unit, preferably the Red Mage or Sage. After this battle place the Jeraw Sands Symbol on the map and head back to a pub. Keep doing side missions, trust me it will come in handy, until you have about 100 or so completed and are around level 15-17. Choose Mission 014: Golden Clock when you have completed the above tasks and head to the Jeraw Sands. When Marche first enters here he sees Shara and asks where Ritz is, \"Behind you\" she answers. Ritz isn\'t shocked to discover that Marche still doesn\'t want to go home, but is at least happy to know that Marche has realized that they are in a world that Mewt has created from his desires. Strategy: You can do this one of two ways, but both revolve around letting Shara and Ritz killing the enemy units. When it is Ritz\'s turn she explains that living in the world they are in now is so much better than before. Ritz will probably attack the Alchemist and then Shara will attack the Juggler up top. Help out Ritz and kill that Alchemist since it can cast Meteor, it\'s pretty damaging I would know. Then you can just continue attacking or you can sit back and watch as Ritz and Shara decimate the enemies with their superior attacks. After the battle Marche tells Ritz that he hopes that her and Shara don\'t get bounties on themselves for helping him out. They tell him that if that ever occurs they would have to turn him in and Marche begins to leave, but before he can leave Ritz warns him that she just might side with Mewt and that would make them enemies somewheres further down the road. Shara tries to get Ritz to help Marche but then Ritz admits why she really wants to stay, her hair. She tells her that she is just simply tired of the daily routine of dying her in the morning; she hates her white hair with a passion and cannot stand to be picked on, being called \"whitey-locks\" everyday and boggles over why Marche would want to return to a place where he too is picked on being called the \"new kid\" every day. The screen fades and we see that annoying selfish brat Mewt again whining about why your clan hasn\'t been caught yet. Mewt then cries for his mommy and tells her that Marche is being mean to him again. Place the Muscadet Symbol down and head there where Marche will talk to himself about how if the Totema are race related that he has only 2 crystals left to go then. Ezel walks in and begins conversation with Marche about how things are going in their lives, but before Ezel leaves he warns Marche that the Judgemaster has gotten worried about Marche and is searching every clan one by one until they find Marche. Focus all of your attacks on it unless you cannot reach it, once it is dead spread your characters out so that Dolce will not kill all of your characters. To start that battle just kill the thief and than the Dragoon and than the Archer. Try to keep your distance if you want to attack the Gladiator because he can be deadly and he is on the other side of the map anyways, so unless you feel that this little bit of experience will help you I insist on just leaving the Gladiator alone. Enemies: Antlion Level 5 x3 Goblin Level 6 Coeurl Level 6 This is not a hard mission at all. The Coeurl starts up top and has to work it\'s way all the way around to get down and attack so leave it be. Attack the Antlion on the left and center first because the others will come down after. Use Montblanc and his magic to destroy the Antlion\'s and your White Monk should have Air Render by now which will do some pretty heavy damage. The Coeurl should be down by the time all the Antlion\'s are dead, so now you can surround and pummel the Goblin and the Coeurl. Mission 038: Fire! Fire! Rank: 1 Type: Battle Price: 600 Gil Reward: 3600 Gil, Sprinkler, Random Item, 40 AP Location: Cyril To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Bomb Level 3 x4 This is an easy battle. At the start just place your characters right center and move straight ahead torching the Bomb with blizzard and strong physical attacks, combos work well. Do not circle a bomb, it will self detonate and do 40-50 damage to your characters if you are careless. Overall an easy battle, have fun with this one. Kill them of course, so kill the Goblin and cast blizzard like crazy on the Red Panthers. Do not let the Panthers attack the same person twice in one turn because at low levels that character could die, easily. After all the monsters are defeated you can use this opportunity to level up by using First Aid. Destroy the targets to finish the mission. Mission 046: Prof in Trouble Rank: 4 Type: Battle Price: 900 Gil Reward: 4000 Gil, Gedegg Soup, 40 AP Location: Lutia Pass To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Lost One Level 6 x3 Ice Flane Level 6 x2 The professor took a trip and hasn\'t returned... let\'s go save her! This battle may seem hard by the looks of it but if you have a good magic user then your in for a surprise because the Ice Flans will take heavy damage from thunder and the Lost Ones are undead monsters so casting cure on them will do a lot of damage. Just use those tactics and the battle is a breeze. Mission 047: Hot Recipe Rank: 2 Type: Battle Price: 1000 Gil Reward: 7000 Gil, Gedegg Soup, Random Item, 2 Random Cards, 40 AP Location: Roda Volcano To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Firewyrm Level 9 Firewyrn Level 10 Bomb Level 9 Bomb Level 10 x2 Prior to the battle equip everyone with a flame shield and/or Fire Robe so that the monsters cannot hit you with magic, basically not attacking at all. Now you can just cast Blizzara on them and watch them die, send in the attackers to finish the job. Mission 048: S.O.S. Rank: 4 Type: Battle Price: 1500 Gil Reward: 7800 Gil, ???, 2 Random Cards, 40 AP Location: Koringwood To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Sprite Level 10 Sprite Level 11 Zombie Level 11 Zombie Level 12 Juggler Level 11 Clan Ritz is in trouble so come to their rescue! Take out the Sprites right off the start and then the Zombies can just be hit with holy magic. The Juggler should be no big deal and the battle itself for that matter. Mission 049: A Lost Ring Rank: 3 Type: Battle Price: 600 Gil Reward: 5200 Gil, 2 Random Items, 40 AP Location: Ulei River To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Lamia Level 7 x2 Sprite Level 8 Goblin Level 7 Lilith Level 8 While trying to find the ring Marche and co. run into a band of monsters. Start off by killing the Sprite and Lamia on the left side and work your way around the top and back to the final Lamia which was at the beginning. This battle isn\'t hard at all, even if this is your first side quest. Mission 050: Staring Eyes Rank: 4 Type: Battle Price: 900 Required Items: Ahriman Eye Reward: 4600 Gil, 2 Random Items, 40 AP Location: Cyril To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Floateye Level 5 Floateye Level 6 Ahriman Level 7 Beastmaster Kevek 6 The Beastmaster is the one controlling the Ahriman and using them to torment the people of Cyril, take the Beastmaster and his followers out. When starting the battle make sure your characters are spread out because the Floateyes can cast Confuse and make alot of your party confused if they are grouped. Also, make sure that your healer has Esuna to counteract the Confuse spell so that your characters do no lose HP during the course of the battle from you constantly smacking them out of confusion. Kill the Floateyes first obviously, and then take the Ahriman by force surrounding it and having fun. Then it\'s just the poor little helpless Beastmaster who can do nothing but run and attack when needed. Mission 055: White Flowers Rank: 2 Type: Battle Price: 600 Gil Reward: 1600 Gil, White Flowers, Random Item, 40 Ap Location: Giza Plains To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Antlion Level 6 x2 Antlion Level 5 Goblin Level 6 Red Cap Level 7 Start the battle off by placing your attackers in the left side and Montblanc and a healer on the right. Montblanc and your healer should go kill the Red Cap while Marche and company take out the Antlion\'s from the south and west. After that just converge upon the Goblin for an easy win. If your White Monk does not have Air Render yet then you need to get it because it really helps. Enemies: Lamia Level 8 Lamia Level 10 x2 Wow, 3 Lamias! What are we ever going to do? Kill them of course and we will like it because we are good people and the Lamias aren\'t. Start up top and surround and bombard the first one and then work your way down the steps and kill the other two Lamias. Now wasn\'t that fun? Mission 068: Fowl Thief Rank: 4 Type: Battle Price: 600 Gil Reward: 3600 Gil, 2 Random Items, 40 AP Location: Cyril To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat the boss! Enemies: Daborosa the Burglar Level 7 *BOSS* You only have the use of 3 characters for this battle so include 1 healer, 1 magic user, and 1 fighter, which should be Marche. Daborosa should go first and will move straight ahead withing your striking range. Attack all out and let the healer be the one that takes damage. Daborosa has a mean counter attack so when you attack run to your healer and be healed. This battle isn\'t that hard but it can be if you do not play it right or just get unlucky. Mission 069: Free Sprohm! Rank: 3 Type: Battle Price: 600 Gil Reward: 2400 Gil, 2 Random Items, 50 AP Location: Sprohm To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Clan Borzoi Level 6 Clan Borzoi Level 8 Borzoi Capo Level 9 Hurrah, it\'s time to free up the city of Sprohm! Head to Sprohm and you will engage the Clan Borzoi; these guys aren\'t hard at all. Place your Black Mage as close as you can to the Borzoi Capo and than follow it by your healer and your attackers in that order. At the start of the battle you should be able to immedi- ately hit the Borzoi Capo with a level 2 magic spell (if you have it) for some decent damage off the start. Your Archer and/or White Monk should be able to hit him as well and possibly kill him, the hardest thing in your path is now gone and it\'s 6 on 2, you should be able to figure out the rest. Mission 070: Raven\'s Oath Rank: 4 Type: Battle Price: 1200 Gil Reward: 6400 Gil, 2 Random Items, 40 AP Location: Giza Plains To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Dread Raven Level 8 Raven Level 13 You are only allowed 4 characters so go with a Black Mage, healer, White Monk, and of course Marche. Start off this battle by marching forward with your White Monk to lure in the enemies. When Raven moves up to attack pummel her with every- thing you\'ve got, if you can use Aim: Leg now would be an opportune time to use it. Dread Raven is easier but has Magic Counter which returns the spell cast upon the user, so don\'t use magic on Dread Raven. Mission 071: Nubswood Base Rank: 3 Type: Battle Price: 1000 Gil Reward: 7000 Gil, 2 Random Items, 2 Random Cards, 40 AP Location: Nubswood To Clear: Win Battle To Win: Defeat all enemies! Enemies: Borzoi Capo Level 10 Borzoi Capo Level 11 Borzoi Capo Level 12 They\'ve found the Capo\'s base, let\'s make it unable to ever be found again. When you get there the Capos find you and immediately attack, so cast magic and use Air Blast to move them back and then send attackers in afterwards to kill the weakened fools that actually thought that they could get away with it. Each job can greatly reflect the race\'s specialties and downfalls. There are 34 jobs total, separated into normal jobs and expert jobs. Expert jobs require the mastery of normal job abilities in order to be obtained. There are also four kinds of abilities, Action Abilities which will be the A on the left side of the chart, Reaction Abilities which will be the R on the left side of the chart, Support Abilities which will be the S on the left side of the chart, and Combo Abilities which will be the C on the left side of the chart. Most commonly used are the A-abilities because there are more of them and they make up a major part of action in the game, thus the name. Support and Reaction abilities will aid the unit in battle by giving them statistic boosts and counterattacks to punish enemies. I will try to tell you some things that you should know to help you win during battle. A few tips on how to conduct a good battle... Some people struggle during the battle phase of the game and one reason is due to insufficient supplies during battle. Try to keep yourself up-to-date on the equipment because it\'s usually handy. If something good will aid you in the battle ahead I will tell you because some things can REALLY help. Also, read the laws of the battle before you start attacking or else you may get red carded and that\'s never a good thing. Good battle procedure is to have a wall of fighters and your healer/s and magic user/s behind the \"wall\" and they can just sit back there making sure the wall doesn\'t crumble. To disperse your opponents into little groups of 2 or 3 is great because your magic user gets in there and blows them all away in one foul swoop. Focus on breaking down the easier enemies first because if you try to take out the hardest guy first the others just pummel away at you and if there is an enemy magic user then you can really get hit while being all clumped up. -Secret Characters- Lini the Mog Knight To get Lini you need to have the Hero Gaol mission item. Take it with you on a mission and Lini may join your party! Lini comes with a few abilities and at a decent level so get him when you can. Eldena the Red Mage To get Eldena you need to have the Elda\'s Cup mission item which you receive upon the completion of Mission #123: Hungry Ghost. Take the item with you on a mission and after the mission Eldena may join you! Q: Can I change my characters name and/or even choose it? A: Only the *New Kid* can be named, default is Marche. Q: What does the WT mean in the battle screen? A: WT stands for Wait Turn. When the WT is 1 then that unit can initiate combat. Every other number is next in line, so 1 is first and 2 is second; so on and so forth. The number on the left is for how many turns until that unit can move starting at 1 and the number on the right is how many units on the field. An example is \"WT 1/10\", this means it is the units turn and there are 10 units on the field. Highlighting another unit may display \"WT 4/10\" meaning that the unit will go 4th according to this turn unless it is stopped, slowed, or hastened during the turn and before it\'s next turn. Q: Is Cloud in this game? A: No Q: I\'ve heard of these items that grow as you use them, what are they and how do I get them? A: The sword, Sequence, grows in Weapon Attack every time you complete Mission 040: Battle Tourney, where you get the item after completing the mission. You can also power it up by completing link Mission 1: Pam le Fey, Mission 2: Dark Wanderer, and Mission 3: Demon Redux. The rod, Sapere Aude, grows in Magic Attack every time you complete Mission 041: Mage Tourney or it\'s related link missions; Mission 4: Newbie Hunt, Mission 5: Real Hunt, and Mission 6: Expert Hunt. You get the Sapere Aude in Mission 041: Mage Tourney. The Acacia Hat (Helm) grows in Magic Resistance and is received after Mission 042: Swimming Meet. You can power up the Acacia Hat in Mission 042: Swimming Meet and in the link missions that it is related to, Mission 7: Ezel\'s Letter, Mission 8: Ritz\'s Letter, and Mission 9: Cid\'s Letter. The last of the 4 items is the Peytral which you can get after completing Mission 043: Clan League. It has no related link missions so you can only power it up by beating the Clan League mission. All item power up missions are repeatable so they can be you\'re best items in each category if you really want them to be. Q: Can I really kill off Montblanc and never have to use him again? A: Yes, Montblanc can die in a Jagd area and you never have to use him again.
