Well, you're definately right about that!

1. If you activate any Magic Card that changes terrain besides Wasteland, and use the Monsters that that Card powers up, you should be able to beat up most of the Rock-type Monsters!

2. If you activate the Magic Card Umi, the terrain will change into Sea and all Machine Monsters should be powered down! Use a Monster that Umi powers up (either a Fish, Sea Serpent, Aqua or Thunder-type Monster).

3. A Dark-type Summon Monster will easily Destroy a Light-type Summon Monster. Activating the Magic Card Yami will go a long way as well.

4. If you activate any Magic Card that changes terrain besides Yami, and use the Monsters that that Card powers up, you should be able to beat up most of the Fiend-type Monsters!

5. If you activate any Magic Card that changes terrain besides Forest, and use the Monsters that that Card powers up, you should be able to beat up most of the Beast-type Monsters!

6. If you activate any Magic Card that changes terrain besides Mountain, and use the Monsters that that Card powers up, you should be able to beat up most of the Winged-Beast-type Monsters!

7A. If you mean a Monster that is Thunder-Type you should activate any Magic Card that changes terrain besides Umi or Mountain, and use the Monsters that that Card powers up, you should be able to beat up most of the Thunder-type Monsters!
B. If you mean a Monster with a Thunder-type Summon, an Earth-type Summon Monster will easily do the job. Activating the Magic Card Forest or Wasteland will go a long way as well.

8. A Wind-type Summon Monster will easily Destroy an Earth-type Summon Monster. Activating the Magic Card Mountain will go a long way as well.

That was one long answer!

Hope I helped! Go get 'em!

You obviously don't read the manual. Here, let me make this simple for you:
Fire > Forest > Wind > Earth > Thunder > Water > Fire
Shadow > Light > Fiend > Dream > Shadow
OK, so that answers 1, 3, 4, 7 and 8...but wait, aren't 1 and 8 the same?
After these Hierarchical relationships, just use basic ATK/DEF differences. In case you don't know, the big number defeats the little number.

You can do it.
