Talk to Amy about getting Corina to give you the job. Next, talk to Corina in the Pet Hospital and she will tell you to talk to Hugo and Kirk Carbon about taking their pets to a checkup. Both can usually be found near the park, the area where the gym is. To get Kirk to take his pet, you must fix his stereo. This is easy, as the game automatically does it for you. Getting Hugo to go is more difficult. He is in the park around he pond. Talk to him and he will say really weird stuff about a giant invisible rabbit burying his dog's favorite toy in the park. You must find and dig up the toy to get him to go. To do this, walk to your pet and select "Command" and "Hunt". Let your pet sniff around until you think thhey found something, then press "Command" and then "Dig". Congrats, you've found the toy! Talk to Hugo and he should now go to the checkup. Now go to the hospital and talk to Corina. YOU NOW ARE A VET!
