Question for Pokemon Sapphire

About the scanner in abandonned ship... What is it? I think I already have it but I don't know what it does.

If you give the Scanner to Captain Stern, you get a choice between the Deepseatooth and the Deepseascale. The Deepseatooth will make a Clamperl become a Huntail if you trade it with the tooth attached to it. The Deepseascale will do the same thing, but the Clamperl will become a Gorebyss.

If you get it you should take it to Capt. Stern's aide and show it to him. Then He will tell you to take it to Capt. Stern. Stern will be in Slateport City. If you give him the scanner, he will give you a choice between two items... I forgot what they were.

What is it? It's something that you have to hand in to a scientist on board the ship. I think he wants it to scan the ocean for treasure, although I doubt you can use it.

Go to the Slateport ferry terminal and talk to Captain Stern. He will oblige to give you a Deepseatooth or Deepseascale in return for the Scanner. Attach Deepseatooth to Clamperl and trade it to get Huntail. Attach Deepseascale to Clamperl and trade it to get Gorebyss.
