I have Pokemon sapphire and leaf green, and my brother has ruby and fire red, and neither of us can trade from ruby/sappire to leafgreen/firered.
Do you have to use a link cable or the wireless links to trade?
If it helps, my brother has an gba sp not an original gba. videogameaddict x

I forgot to mention, we have completed the Pokemon league on all of the above games, but when we mix records, trade or battle, it just says waiting....... Press b to cancel, or something similar.

Have you returned the Ruby and Sapphire to Celio in Fire Red and Leaf Green?
You need to get the Ruby on Mt. Ember, and the Sapphire at the Rocket Warehouse before you can trade.
You need to give the Sapphire and Ruby to Bill's friend in red/green and then you can trade from Sapphire to red/green.
