Question for Pokemon Sapphire

2 questions here.

1. How do you open the locked door in mossdeep with the old guy?

2.when you enter your ar codes how does it work, because everytime I enter 1 it never does anything different, when you enter a code another screen pops up on you're ar I don't know what 2 put on that screen

1. You need an E-Reader and the card that came with your game
2. 1st you type in the name of the code, then on the 2nd screen you type in the code
