Question for Pokemon Sapphire

What Pokemon should I choose for my starter in Pokemon Sapphire? Also, if you can, what would be some good Pokemon to help build my team along side the starter?

I would personally go with Mudkip. Swampert has great stats and can learn various moves.

Besides Mudkip, I would personally say to go with Ralts (Gardevoir), Bagon (Salamence), Roselia, Electrike (Manectric), and Numel (Camerupt).

It's all up to you. You can defeat the Elite Four will basically any team if their Levels are high enough.
