Question for Pokemon Sapphire

I dont know if this is true or not, but I found out off the Leaf Green and Sapphire questions that it is possible to get shiny legendaries.

I had a game on sapphire where I had caught Kyogre and had a Masterball for Latias but then traded Kyogre to ruby for pokedex holding a master ball which I don't know why, turned sapphire on the next day and the data was gone. Lucky I traded, anyway I have a new game on sapphire with two masterballs for latias and Rayquazza.

Now I get to my point, I heard that if you save right before you battle a legendary, get into a battle with it and if its normal coloured, reset and keep trying, can anyone verify this? Also I heard that you can get a black Rayquazza, can anyone verify this? Im gonna try and if it works I will tell everyone, I'm just lucky I have 2 masterballs. Also, those people who cant catch a legendary, keep trying.

On my new game I was trying to catch Kyogre with a lvl 40 Sceptole, Blaziken, Swampert and Shellgon but it just was not working. Then I used sceptiles leaf blade twice, threw an ultra ball and caught it like that, WITH ONE ULTRA BALL. Pretty cool hey? So if anyone can verify these questions I will be grateful and I find out out I will post it everywhere.

Wrong, the shinyness (or not) of legendaries is set when you start the game.
