How do you identify shiny Pokemon?

And can you tell me where have you find some of them.

Shiny pokemon are easy to spot because they have abnormal coloration and sparkle in battle.

I've caught shinys on Routes 113 and 117, but remember that where anybody has caught a shiny has no impact on whether and where anyone else will encounter one of these pokemon.
