Question for Pokemon Ruby

I need to capture a wailmer but for some reason I can't fish every time I try it says ohh got a bite and then it got away it always says the same thing what should I do?

Press A when it says ohh got a bite and a battle should begin

Sounds like it's your first time, unlike silver gold etc, you have to press A

To fish you must wait till it says "o it's a bite *something similar*" before pressing A

Dont press when it's just .. .. .... .....

Press when it's just ..... .... Its a bite

Are you pressing A when it says GOT A BITE. If so you need to press faster.
