To get it via trdading, you must pick 1, and then catch another pokemon. Head past the village with the man thinking that there are dinosaur fossils, which are his own footprints....
Anyway, go up a floor and trade your starter Pokemon to a friend/another cartridge. He/she will trade back a bad pokemon. Then repeat until you pick the 3rd pokemon. Then catch 2 Pokemon and trade it back to your friend
