I have recently purchased Pokemon Ruby and I've beaten the Elite 4 now people are saying I'm one step closer to being a champion what does that mean what do I have to do now and theres a bloke talking about ancient ruins how do I get to them ?

You are allready a champion and you have beaten the game. Those people probably refer to catching all the pokemon and all the extra stuff. About the ruins those are regi caves.
