If you want the sixth badge, your going to want at least a lvl 40 or 30 Pokemon party. Sure, 20 might work, but it's better safe than sorry. Then, have a defense team and an attack team. This means 3 defense and 3 attack. The Pokemon that work the best for defense are Golbat/Zubat, Pelipper/Wingul, and Wailmer. Wailord is not good for defense, as he is better for attack. Best for attack are your starter Pokemon, Gyrados (Give a Magikarp a rare candy, or lvl it up to 36), and Wailord. Wailord or Raichu will work. You can get Raichu from evolving a Pikachu, which can be found at the Safari Zone near Lilycove. You might not get that far to Lilycove...
Anyway, teach your Pokemon moves. How much damage it makes will be in the bottom left corner. I hope this helped!
