Question for Pokemon Ruby

I just need to know a few things.

1) I was going to buy a gameboy advance but I was wondering if the DS runs old gameboy games? (from nomal to colour).

2) If I get ruby and the fire red versions of the game, will I be able to get all the pokemon?

3) Is it true that you can't trade from the older versions of the game to the ruby & saphire versions or the leaf green & fire red versions of the game?

4) Finally does the link cable for the gameboy colour work for the gameboy advance and the DS?

Sorry for asking, I don't even know if the DS version is out yet but I thought one of you might know the answers to my questions. Seeing as every article I read about the advance and DS points out their good points and everything I've heard about there bad points I can't find on the net.

actionshark answered:

1: Nope sorry but it runs the GBA games not GBC or GB games.

2: ALMOST all the Pokemon. Except Mew only.

actionshark answered:

1: Nope only runs the GBA and DS games.

2: All the Pokemon except Mew, you get him in the New Emerald version coming out.

3: Yes you can do that but not with the Wireless Adapter only the link cable and you need to accomplish something in the game to be able to trade with the old games.

4: No it does not, it says that in the DS instruction manual.

Hazza Spazza answered:

1: Yes. All the Gameboy Black and White Games will turn to colour, and you can make them bigger screen. This applies for any Gameboy Advance.

2: Not quite. This is how it works. You can get all of the Pokemon from Yellow, Blue and Red (Numbers 1 to 151) on Fire Red and Leaf Green. You can't get all of these Pokemon from Fire Red, you have to have Leaf Green too. You can get most of the Gold and Silver Pokemon from Pokemon Colosseum on Gamecube. To get these Pokemon to Gamebuy Advance games, you need a Nintendo Gamecube Link Cable. And you can get the new Pokemon on Ruby or Sapphire. You can also get rare legendaries by doing special things. To get Jirachi, you have to do something on Pokemon Channel on Gamecube. To get Deoxys, you have to do something on Fire Red or Leaf Green.

3. Yeah, its true. The only way to get ol Pokemon is by trading from Pokemon Colosseum or Fire Red and Leaf Green to Ruby or Sapphire.

4: No. There are new link cables for Gameboy Aadavance and Gamecube.
