If you have reached mauville city then Check the houses. A man in one will give you HM05 rocksmash. Then go east and yo'll arrive at vrdanturf town. There will be a cave go in and teach rocksmash to a Pokemon and break th rock the man will now give you strength. You will activate it by defeateing lavaridge town gym
