Well it's hard to answer just go with the ones you feel best will make your team tough and unbeatable.Try mixing it up like grass fire water, flying, electric, and type would work.

I would say wait for lapras and snorlax, and then construct your team as carefully to cover all of the type advantages that your other Pokemon don't cover.

Hope this helps!

It helps to get a fire type Pokemon like Ninetales or Flareon later in the game. Jolteon would also help out your' Bulbasaur during the elite four, especially against Lance. Flying types such as Pidgeot will help cover you from fellow grass types in the beginning til you catch a fire type, plus they can use HM02-Fly. Gyarados would help you out significantly but it's strength can be replaced with a Snorlax who can also learn HM04-Surf. I usually get Dragonite but I find that you don't really end up using it too much throughout the game. Getting a good mixture of Pokemon with multiple types and many different typed moves will surely help you through the game. I've beaten the Elite 4 with a good team and a level 60 unevolved Bulbasaur, so it's not impossible Smile
