Well, you know there isn't really a totally invincible team. The team becomes really good only if you train them well with TLC etc. I use this team all the time to beat the elite four:

Alakazam/Mewtwo (when I catch him)
Blastoise
Flareon/Moltres (when I catch him)
Raichu
Articuno
Sandslash/Tyrannitar (when I level up larvitar)

I trained all my Pokemon for a long time before they became really good. If you've noticed, I don't have Zapdos as my electric pokemon. It's because Zapdos is really weak against ice attacks, and you'll be using the electric Pokemon primarily against Lorelei's ice pokemon. For Bruno, you need good psychic and water pokemon, and Agatha's pokemon are easily hit by strong psychic or ghost attacks. Lance's pokemon are hit easily by ice, and his aerodactyl just needs water and his gyarados just needs electricity. For your rival, put your electric pokemon first because he'll be putting out pidgeotto for your first round. For the consecutive times you battle him, he'll have heracross as his opening pokemon, so a good bird pokemon should be your first pokemon.

The team I normally have (if you have friends that will trade with you) are
Charzard: flamethrower; blast burn; flying move; move of your choice
Venasaur: frenzy plant; razor leaf; solar beam; sunny day
Blastoise: hydro cannon; surf; a non-water move; hydro pump
Raichu:thunder; thunderbolt; rain dance(makes electric always hit); move of choice
Golem: earthquake; rock slide; two moves of choice
Pidgeot: fly; ariel ace; quick attack; move of choice
I use these Pokemon because they can be caught very early on and like you a lot by the time you are at the Pokemon league.
P.S Try getting them all lvl 50 or so and above.
