1)It's totally up to you which starter you choose. I found Bulbasaur a brilliant starter because he is useful in most of the gyms. Squirtle is also good and useful in most gyms. Charmander is good in about half of the gyms but in the others he is quite useless. Still that's my view. Who you choose is up to you.
2)Depends on what moves you have when you evolve it.

1. It depends on who you like. Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle is useful in their own special way. I would suggest Bulbasaur if your new to Pokemon. But if you're just new in the Leafgreen game, I'd suggest Charmander or Squirtle.
2. Machoke should have Revenge and Cross Chop. It depends on what you like with the other two moves.
