Question for Pokemon FireRed

Hello I'm new here and I wnated to know how to do the mistery gift because I already talked to the guy in the pokemart but when I turn on both games and select mistery gift on both it says searchin for signal . I need help thank you.

Are both games connected via the Wireless Adaptor?
