Question for Pokemon FireRed

When I you use the gameshark code mod shop, I was told you go to the pokemart and buy whatever codes you put in (ex: all pokeballs, tm's, etc,), and you press L, a, and select at the same time, but it just takes me to the help screen and when I do that and when I buy something my game just freezes. What do I do?

You may have to many codes on at once and also the game freezing is a side affect when you use an action replay or gameshark
