An E-Reader reads the card that came with your game and it allows you to battle the person on the card.

It gets you to Southern Island.

An e-reader is to swipe your cards. If you got a card when you bought the game and that is for the e-reader.

You would see a trainer on the card and his pokemon. When you swipe the card you would be able to battle him.

NOTE:you would need two gameboy advance, two fire red or leaf green,e-reder,card,and GBA link.

The E-Reader has nothing to do with Pokemon Fire red.

gogobananas answered:

An e-reader reads electronic cards which in the cas of Pokemon are trainer battle cards giving you access to fight more harder trainers
