What is so special about unknown? And why do you need to to catch them?

You don't need to catch them. They are there to give you the challenge of completing and Unown Pokedex, as well as your typical PokeDex. They are special because:

-They don't learn any HMs or TMs
-What effect their Hidden Power will have on your Pokemon as far as effectiveness is anonymous
-They make up an ancient order

You don't really need to catch them, unless you want a incomplete Pokedex forever

When you catch them in order [ABC...] you can catch a Celebi

You don't really NEED to catch them. Each different shape Unown represents a different letter of the alphabet. In some Pokemon games they write secret messages using the Unown as letters and you have to decipher them.
