Question for Pokemon FireRed

I bought my FireRed game from ebay and every time I tried to save the game it said that it saved, but when I turn it back on it says that "the save file has been deleted..." Then the game starts back from the beginning. I contacted the seller and they sent another but it is doing the same thing. Does anyone know what is wrong here or if there is any way to fix it?

I'm no expert on this, but it may be one of these problems.

Is it from the same region? Games from different regions may have problems, though being on the GBA, which is region free, this is doubtful.

It may be a cracked pirated copy, which might also explain why you were sent out a second copy. A friend of mine had a pirated version (NOT HIS FAULT, HE DIDN'T KNOW) which would only save if he saved the game twice. Of course, if this is the problem you will never be able to finish the game and successfully save it as it only saves once after the Pokemon league. I would assume this is the problem.

These are the only reasons I can think of, sorry I can't offer assistance in fixing it as I have no clue what to do or if it is even possible.

Regards,
Denis.

There is another possible reason. If the internal battery inside the game cartridge is dead then it will not remember a saved game if it is removed from the GBA or if the GBA battery dies and it is not plugged in at the time. There is nothing that can be done about this unfortunately. I have a game where this has happened and until yesterday it was the only game I had. All I could do is leave it in the GBA and leave the GBA plugged in in case the battery died.

Update: My son was telling me today that if you can find a way to open the game without damaging it you may be able to replace the internal battery. It's worth a try

This is because the game is a Fake one. I bought one the other day without nowing it was fake and every time I turned on it says: "The save file is ok..." And now I turned on and it said "The save file has been deleted" I was looking on other pages and it's because it's fake. I don't know if there is a way to fix this. I would try to get an original version.

Okay so yes it is 8 years later but when I was a kid my dad bought this game for me. It definitely was a funny copy because it didn’t have the crystal look to the cartridge. This would happen to me over and over until I figured out a fix. You had to save twice in order for the file to register. If you asked me I would think it was either pirated and that was an anti piracy measure or a copy that did not pass QA and was sold off and people resold.
