Could any one help my brother by explaining what each badge does or where he can find out. I haven't played Pokemon since yellow. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Well, actually, there is no need for anyone too. There is a man in the game who will describe each one of the Eight gym badges for your brother if you want him to. He will also tell your brother what each badges special ability is. You can find this man in his house in Cerulean City. You might remember his house from Pokemon Yellow, because you could use an item-finder in his backyard and find a Rare Candy. His house is in the area to the left just before you reach the bridge with those Five trainers. He will be an old man(if I recall) sitting at his table all alone. Just talk to him. Hope this helps.
