If you get the water type, it is very good against fire types,...but it will also be good against grass types too if you teach ice type moves....so in my opinion water is the best choice...........but theyre all cool, especially in the firered
Hmmmmmm which Starter to pick, thats a tricky one. Well I can tell you some things about all the starters to help you make up your mind:
Bulbasaur: Will easily be beat while trying to train him at the beginning of the game because you will mostly find Pidgys' at the beginning of the game, but on the plus side it will easily be able to beat Brock and Misty.
Squirtle: Won't be beat while you try to train him at the beginning of the game, and he will easily be able to beat Brock, But he might have a bit of trouble beating Misty.
Chamander: Won't be beat while trying to train him up at the beginning of the game and if you get him to a high enough level (when he learns "Metal Claw") he won't be beat by Brock. But he will easily be beat by Misty.
But I would recommend choosing Charmander because now he can beat Brock at the start and when he evolves into Charazard he will be good for battling in the Elite Four.
Vendetta to all!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chose Charmander that rules that Pokemon rules firered. Also there is no other stronger fire type. I hoped this has helped you heaps.

I did the trick, where first, you and a friend both have the game. You start a file, then pick one. Get to the point where you can start trading and Trade your Starter to your friend. Then start a new file and select a different starter. Trade that to your friend also. Then do this one last time. Don't trade your starter the third time. Then get two sucky pidgeys or other weak one, then trade those for your starters back. This way you can have all three, without having to do a gameshark or anything!
Hope I helped
Klaww
I would go with Bulbasaur because it's easy to raise and you can get an arcanine 4 a fire and gyarados for water
Get a Charmander. Sure it is hard in the first 2 gyms ,but he will win easiley in all the others.
