Sometimes after you beat the Elite 4 you will see the TV flashing white. That means you can watch the news. It might be interesting or boring.

That's probably as detailed as it gets. You have to keep watching the television and eventually the pokenews will come on. Buyt if you want the news to be about you, you have to do something special.
Ex. Buy huge amounts of items from marts.
Nickname your pokemon.
