Hi, I would like to know what the rules for ev's are. Do you only gain the stat bonus if you get your Pokemon to level 100 without using rare candies or something? I ask because I gave several Pokemon 51 vitemins which is, as you know, the maximum amount they can take. The problem is, when I got them to level 100 using rare candies they recieved no stat bonus. Could someone please tell me what went wrong? I'm new at the whole effort values thing.

EV's from what I know are obtained through battling other trainers...using Rare Candies is pretty stupid....Your not putting any effort at it..
For more information...read the HP/EV/IV guide in the Pokemon Team Ratings Forum
EV's are what a Pokmon's effort is. They can have split between 510 Effort Points. They're grouped by fours, so everytime you get four Effort Points in a certain stat, it will go up by one point. If you feed a Pokmon one of those Carbos, or any Vitman things, they gain ten points, or two points in that stat, plus two, so you need to get two more points in the stat to get the next boost.
When you give them Rare Candies, you're not giving them any effort, so you get no boost!
I made a topic in the Pokmon Team Rating Forums if you want to use that. It covers the game mechanics.
