Go to the trade centre above any Pokemon centre. Then go to the woman to the far right, Make sure your friend is doing the same thing, and have your link cable in. Then talk to the woman.

Link up, and enter the in the first one and there up to 16 people can go in, talk to the person you are wanting to mix records with and they should give you that option,
