What you need:
1. Each player needs a GameBoy Advance / GameBoy Advance SP.
2. Each player needs a Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter.
3. Or you can connect the GBAs with a Game Boy Advance Link Cable.

In-Game Requirements

Pokémon Emerald:
1. You need to get the Pokédex from Professor Birch in Littleroot Town
2. You need to have at least two pokémon in your party

Pokémon FireRed:
1. You need to get the Pokédex from Professor Oak in Pallet Town, and you need to have at least two Pokémon in your party.
2. You also need to talk to Celio in the One Island Pokémon Center and complete his quest. He asks you to find the Ruby and the Sapphire to complete the Network Machine.
3. If you want to trade pokémon that are not in the Regional Pokédex, or you are trading with Ruby, Sapphire, or Emerald, you need to complete the main game (defeat the Elite Four) to obtain the National Pokédex.

If you’re done with the requirements, simply connect your GBAs with a Link Cable, or connect a GBA Wireless Adapter to both GBAs.

Go to a Pokémon Center and go upstairs.
Talk to the person in the middle to start the Trade.
