How do you get to Mew? I tried following it around. I still couldn't get him

Be patient. If you have Pokemon Gold, Silver, or Crystal, this is very similar. In that, you had to follow around Entei and Raikou. This is the same. A helpful tip is to wait in a city, Petalburg is a good choice. Every time you leave the city, Mew moves. Wait until he is on a route right next to Petalburg, and go get him. This will take a while, so be very patient. Saving and turning off your game will not change this.

Every time you move Mew moves. So when you are right next to Mew face it save and press A.

Try cornering Mew to any side of the place. If you can't locate it then you can use a cut move mto cut away the grass
