Question for Mega Man Battle Network 5: Team Protoman

I am just wondering if anyone can tell me how you are supposed to use the Slasher chip and how you put in the button comboinations for the Varisword.

The slasher works when the enemy crosses over to your side of the field and tries to attack you. Here are some Variable Sword combinations and hold down A when doing them.
FghtSword- Left, Left-down, down, down-right, right
Life sword- down, left, up, right, down
Long sword- down, down right, right
Sonic boom- left, B, right, B
Widesword- up, right, down
