I beat the game and there is a star next to the continue sign I can only play from where I saved last (before I fought bass and alpha) if you know how to play past that please tell me thank you in advance

I have not beaten this specific megaman game but I have beaten several others. The star means you beat the main storyline. Also if you have the star new areas that were inaccessable are now open to you. There are multiple marks that apear on the titlescreen(where you choose continue)that appear as you complete different tasks such as collecting all the standard chips, all the megachips, and all the giga chips. There is also a mark for completeing al the PA's(program advances).
