I cannot seem to beat the stupid Phirana plants,The mother,and the baby ones,how do I beat them and what does it mean when they change colors?

Oh, hey, I just checked... When they change colours they match whatever new 'hand' attack mario and luigi have...
When theyre blue, use Firebrand on them, when they're red, use thunderhand on them. Kill the babies before going for the mother, I think. (it's been two years, I hope I helped)
