First off you get rydia back in the tower of zot after you get the crystal from the dark elf

To beat him have tellah cast his most powerful spell and cecil attack him
All remaining characters can do whatever you need them to do

She comes back after the Fabul scene(s).For the dark elf, go to the town with the earth crystal, and look in all of the buildings.Eventually, you will find Edward in bed,injured. He will give you the twin harp. Go back to the dark elf and fight. It will be unwinnable. Edward will sense that and will play an Elf-weakining melody. Your harp will play the melody, and you attack. This time, he doesn't attack-much.Just hit him using Cecil's Dark and Tellah's -ara spells. Heal when needed with Polorm and use Palorm's Magic to your advantage. This should take about 10-15 minutes, depending on your experience.
