If you are at the part where you have to find him in hfil then just keep playing through and use goku's instant transmission on SWITCHES to get to the part where there is a save point and four clouds floating around.
Talk to each one,one of them is vegeta. If you are at the part where you have to hit him in the gravity chamber then while he is talking to trunks about if goten can turn super sayain hold the arrow button towards vegeta while he is still talking and keep pressing A while he is still talking then when he is done talking trunks will punch him before he gets a chance to jump.
Otherwise I don't know on any other way. (!$^!%&^*#$%%^Y#^&$%&$^&&^##$@%^*$^$^#%&@#^) sorry
Before beating the mission with gohan buy equipment that boost trunks speed and try not to get vegeta into a corner or else he will fly away.
