First level up to say level 50 or so. Then when he comes close to you run from him a short distance and whip him. If you have crosses throw some at him. But whatever you do don't let him harm you too much. If you are trapped between a wall and Hugh just use your roc's wing to fly up to one of the platforms and wait form him to move away from you. Once his life is drained he will kneel and beg for forgiveness. Once Hugh is done talking move to the left room and get the last key.
